Senior Technical Advisor - Offshore Cable Installation (m/f/d)

We are currently seeking an experienced

Senior Technical Advisor – Offshore Cable Installation (m/f/d)

to support a major offshore grid connection project in the German Baltic Sea starting from 1 November 2026, with an expected project duration until November 2029 and an option for extension.The assignment is predominantly remote and includes regular project-related travel as well as offshore activities in Germany.

As part of your role, you will be entrusted with the following responsibilities:

• Provide independent technical advisory services for nearshore cable installation activities, including package scope, schedule, budget, risk, quality and HSE
• Review and assess work method statements covering cable logistics, handling, cable lay barge operations, vertical injector installation, simultaneous lay and burial, cable jointing and preparatory works
• Monitor contractor and subcontractor deliverables and installation concepts against contractual, technical and project requirements
• Coordinate technical interfaces involving surveys, boulder removal, dredging, post-lay remedial works, seabed reinstatement and infrastructure crossings
• Review nearshore installation documentation and assess interfaces between onshore and offshore cable installation activities
• Prepare and further develop technical concepts, specifications and tender documentation and support technical offer evaluations and negotiations
• Monitor progress and risks, identify deviations and required corrective actions and prepare technical recommendations for project decision-making

• Completed university degree in a relevant technical discipline, e.g. mechanical engineering, offshore engineering or subsea engineering
• Several years of demonstrable experience in offshore power cable installation projects, particularly shallow-water and nearshore cable installation
• Practical experience with cable lay barges and vertical injector systems
• Demonstrated experience with shore pulls into HDD ducts or micro tunnels
• Experience supporting offshore transmission, grid connection or renewable energy projects for a TSO, offshore wind developer or comparable asset owner
• Sound understanding of relevant cable installation standards and guidance, including DNV, Carbon Trust and CIGRE
• Understanding of cable crossing design and cable crossing agreements
• Experience coordinating interfaces with Marine Warranty Surveyors
• Valid BOSIET or GWO certification for offshore assignments
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Strong coordination and communication skills combined with sound technical judgement and a structured approach to risk and interface management
