Senior Backend Engineer (m/f/x)

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Tech Operations Team and power the heart of our warehouse operations.

As a (Senior) Backend Engineer, you'll be building the software that keeps our warehouses running. From unpacking parcels to grading items, from picking to wrapping orders, you’ll help create and own applications that directly impact our colleagues’ day‑to‑day work.

You’ll be part of a tight‑knit team of engineers, a product manager, and an engineering manager, all driven to bring smart, sustainable choices to thousands of users daily — connecting the digital and physical worlds in meaningful ways.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design , build and maintain backend services with Kotlin and Java

• Work on our platform, optimizing for performance, scalability and stability

• Embrace the challenge and opportunity to design and implement systems that effectively bridge between the digital and physical worlds

• Engage in rapid prototyping to validate assumptions quickly

• Help to improve our architecture and best practices continuously

• Actively contribute ideas and help drive technical discussions

• Collaborate closely with your peers, your product manager and stakeholders to build features from idea to production

• Visit our warehouses to understand our services better by using them firsthand while observing and engaging with the employees to gather feedback and opportunities to further improve our services and UX

• You have at least 4 years of professional experience in backend development with Kotlin and Java and feel confident working independently with both languages

• You excel at building database architectures that perform and scale seamlessly

• You are experienced in building and scaling service-oriented architectures

• You enjoy working closely with other engineers, product managers, and stakeholders

• As a senior engineer, you combine technical expertise with a drive to solve problems, displaying excellent collaboration and ownership skills in the process.

• You won’t have direct reports, but your impact will shape how the team moves forward

• You are an effective communicator who values transparency and team spirit

• You are pragmatic: you prioritize shipping working solutions and iterating quickly

• You like contributing ideas, improving processes, and shaping better user experiences

• You feel comfortable occasionally working with other tech stack (e.g. PHP, Angular)
