Energy Engineer - Heating Expert (f/m/d)

As an Energy Engineer, you’ll be a key domain expert in our cross functional product teams, shaping how real-world heating systems are analyzed, understood, and optimized through software. You ensure that our algorithms, analyses, and customer insights are grounded in physical reality and deliver real energy savings every single day.

Tasks

• Together with data scientists , you analyze the behavior of heating systems and their components (e.g. heat pumps, CHP units, boilers, storage systems, heating circuits, hot water systems) and help develop algorithms that energetically optimize system operation.
• You translate physical system understanding into models, rules, and KPIs that enable data-driven optimization and decision-making.
• Working alongside data analysts , you design meaningful analyses and indicators for our customer platform, giving operators and asset managers clear insights into efficiency, performance, and optimization potential across their asset portfolios.
• You define and validate alarm rules based on live and historical data to assess the security of supply and early detect operational risks in customer systems.
• You support the validation of control and optimization strategies , ensuring they are safe, robust, and suitable for real-world heating infrastructure .
• You act as a bridge between energy engineering, data, and product teams, helping to align technical feasibility, physical constraints, and customer value.

Requirements

• A strong background in energy engineering, building services engineering, or a comparable field .
• Solid understanding of thermal energy systems, heating networks, and system interactions in real estate or similar applications.
• Experience working with data-driven analyses of energy systems and the ability to derive actionable insights from operational data.
• Interest in collaborating closely with data scientists and software teams to turn physical system knowledge into scalable digital solutions.
• A structured and analytical mindset , combined with a strong sense of responsibility when working with systems that impact real-world energy supply .
• You enjoy explaining complex energy-related topics clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Bonus Points : Experience with data models and their application in the heating domain .
