Senior Software Engineer

Our Platform teams are responsible for connecting with engineers across the organization to enable SumUppers to build, run, and communicate innovative and cohesive products & services - globally, at scale.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Data Streaming team. In this role, you will be a key player in building and scaling our streaming infrastructure to support critical, near-real-time data processing for our global business. What you'll do

• Build and scale our streaming infrastructure using technologies like Kafka, Apache Spark/Flink, and Snowflake.
• Ensure the reliability and security of the infrastructure using Kubernetes (k8s) and Infrastructure as Code (IaaC).
• Contribute to the architecture and define best practices for our Data Platform.
• Collaborate with data producers and consumers across the company to build seamless, efficient data pipelines.
• Mentor and upskill your fellow SumUppers on best practices for Kafka and stream processing.
• Provide on-call support for our critical Data Platform infrastructure.

You'll be great for this role if

• 5+ years of experience as a Software or Infrastructure Engineer.
• Solid experience in at least one programming language like Java, Go, or Python.
• Strong experience with Terraform.
• Proven experience maintaining critical data infrastructure for a large user base.
• Direct experience with Kafka and/or data processing engines like Apache Flink or Spark.
• Knowledge of observability stacks such as Grafana, Prometheus, or Honeycomb.

Nice to have:

• Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) experience.
• Experience with distributed databases or data warehouses.
• Knowledge of ETL/data services like Airflow, DBT, Snowflake, or DataBricks.
• Familiarity with data cataloging tools.
