Client Principal - AI Consulting (Energy, Oil & Gas)

We are seeking a Client Principal with deep experience in the energy sector, particularly oil and gas, to guide enterprise clients through AI-driven transformation.
Position Overview
The energy industry is at an AI inflection point. Upstream exploration, asset integrity inspection, predictive maintenance, geospatial analytics, and HSE compliance are all being transformed by machine learning and computer vision — and major operators are increasingly seeking trusted partners who can help them scale these capabilities beyond the proof-of-concept stage.
As Client Principal for our Energy & Natural Resources sector, you will be the senior commercial and strategic presence for CloudFactory across Oil & Gas clients, focusing on global energy hubs. This is not a traditional enterprise sales role: you will operate as a peer-level advisor to VP and C-suite stakeholders, guiding them through AI strategy decisions and pulling in our technical and delivery teams to architect and execute. You will own the full client lifecycle — from new logo acquisition to account expansion — within a defined sector portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Client Relationship Management
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior executives across O&G and broader energy companies — including VP of Asset Operations, Heads of Digital Transformation, Chief Data Officers, and asset management leaders.
- Develop deep understanding of client challenges across exploration, production, asset management, midstream operations, and energy trading.
- Serve as a strategic advisor guiding clients through AI adoption decisions, from use case identification to production deployment and ongoing model governance.
- Navigate complex multi-stakeholder environments spanning IT, operations, HSE, engineering, and data science functions.
- Proactively identify expansion opportunities within accounts; map and develop relationships with key influencers and economic buyers.
Business Development and Sales
- Drive new logo acquisition and account expansion within the O&G sector across major global markets.
- Develop strategic account plans with clear expansion paths from initial use case to enterprise-wide AI program.
- Lead consultative sales conversations with executives responsible for digital transformation, operations, and data strategy, and develop compelling proposals and business cases for AI adoption.
- Lead commercial engagements end-to-end: discovery, proposal development, commercial structuring, and executive presentation.
- Develop deep understanding of sector buying cycles, procurement dynamics, and capital planning timelines — aligning CloudFactory’s sales motion accordingly.
Solution Design and Delivery
- Identify high-impact AI use cases across energy operations, including: predictive maintenance and asset monitoring; drone and aerial imagery annotation for asset integrity inspection; safety and compliance automation; intelligent document processing and data extraction from engineering documentation; geospatial, LiDAR, and digital twin data pipelines.
- Conduct discovery sessions and workshops to identify opportunities for AI-driven transformation across O&G value chains.
- Translate client operational challenges into compelling AI solution narratives backed by CloudFactory’s data annotation, machine learning model development, and automation pipelines.
- Collaborate with engineering and delivery teams to implement scalable solutions.
- Ensure timely delivery, scope, and client satisfaction throughout project lifecycles.
Thought Leadership and Industry Expertise
- Stay current on AI adoption trends across upstream (E&P, drilling, reservoir), midstream (pipelines, logistics), and downstream (refining, distribution) segments.
- Contribute to external visibility through conference participation, client workshops, and co-authored content.
- Demonstrate expertise in relevant regulatory environments, safety standards, and operational complexities that shape how clients can deploy AI.
- Feed sector intelligence back into product and GTM strategy.
Team Leadership and Mentorship
- Lead multidisciplinary teams including consultants, data scientists, and engineers.
- Foster collaboration between technical teams and client stakeholders.
- Promote best practices in AI consulting and solution delivery.
Requirements
Industry Expertise - Strong experience in energy, oil & gas, or industrial sectors. Familiarity with energy operations, regulatory requirements, and digital transformation initiatives.
Existing Network - Senior relationships (VP-level and above) across major energy operators or OFS companies that can be activated from day one. This is not a role where you build a network from scratch.
Business Acumen - Ability to translate complex operational challenges into AI-enabled solutions.
Technical Fluency - Working knowledge of AI technologies including machine learning, predictive analytics, and computer vision.
Consulting Experience - Proven success managing enterprise client relationships and delivering consulting engagements.
Communication - Strong executive communication and presentation skills. Ability to hold a room with senior leaders and be seen as a peer, not a vendor.
Leadership - Demonstrated experience leading complex projects and cross-functional teams.
Education - Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, statistics, or related field. Advanced degrees in AI, data science, or business are a plus.
Experience - 10+ years of experience in consulting, technology, or digital transformation within energy or industrial sectors.
