Senior / Lead Data Scientist - AI specialist (m/f/d)

We're looking for a Senior/Lead Data Scientist to join our team in Munich, Berlin, Leipzig or Frankfurt, Germany, in a hybrid working mode.

In this role, you will drive the development and deployment of state-of-the-art data and AI solutions within our IT professional services practice. You will combine deep technical expertise with strategic thinking and effective client engagement to deliver production-grade, high-impact data science outcomes.

Lead the design, development and deployment of innovative data and AI solutions that address complex business challenges Partner with business stakeholders and data engineering teams to define project goals, technical requirements and delivery roadmaps Engage with clients to communicate data and AI opportunities, risks and strategies in clear and accessible terms Apply deep expertise in advanced analytics modeling, algorithm selection and statistical inference to solve complex business problems hands-on Continuously tune and refine models for improved performance, accuracy, scalability and reliability across multiple use cases Design and implement end-to-end data science workflows ensuring robust MLOps practices and production-grade code quality Design and apply evaluation frameworks to assess model accuracy, performance and data suitability, and resolve issues such as data drift and model drift Build and optimize GenAI and Agentic AI systems including RAG, multimodal AI applications, human-in-the-loop solutions and evaluation frameworks Implement and oversee AI governance frameworks ensuring regulatory compliance, ethical AI principles and responsible AI practices Define and enforce standards for coding practices, model evaluation, documentation and data science workflows across the team Provide mentorship and technical leadership to junior and mid-level data scientists fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, emerging technologies and regulatory developments impacting data science and AI Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics or a related field; advanced degree or Ph.D. advantageous Substantial professional experience in data science and machine learning with a strong track record of delivering production-grade solutions; prior experience in IT consulting or professional services is highly valued Deep proficiency in at least two ML/AI domains (e.g. Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning Engineering, Computer Vision, Time Series, Recommendation Systems, Generative and Agentic AI) Expertise in Python and advanced knowledge of data science and AI frameworks such as scikit-learn, PyTorch, MLflow, Plotly, Streamlit and LangChain Advanced understanding of LLMs, RAG systems, vector databases, prompt engineering and GenAI/Agentic AI application development Demonstrated experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP), production deployment pipelines and related ML/AI frameworks (e.g. Amazon SageMaker, Bedrock, Microsoft Azure Machine Learning, Foundry, Google Vertex AI) Hands-on experience with DataOps principles and implementing CI/CD for data pipelines; proficiency with tools such as Palantir Foundry, Celonis, Kubernetes & Flux (GitOps) and DataDog Practical experience with Microsoft Foundry, Copilot, Power Platform and Azure AI Search Knowledge of AI governance, regulatory compliance (including GDPR and EU AI regulatory frameworks), responsible AI principles and experience working within large German enterprise IT environments (e.g. change management, works council, German data protection) Strong written and verbal communication skills in German and English with the ability to engage clients and mentor junior team members
