Lead Engineer – Digital Client Channels

As Lead Engineer (m/f/x) you combine people leadership with hands‑on technical depth across native mobile, web and backend engineering. You will steward our engineering standards, mentor teams, and collaborate closely with senior stakeholders to deliver reliable, secure, and delightful client experiences at scale.

Your key responsibilities

• Lead & grow engineers: provide line management for engineers across multi‑disciplinary squads (hiring, coaching, performance, career paths) and nurture an inclusive, high‑bar engineering culture.

• Hands‑on technical leadership: set technical direction and contribute code/reviews for either native mobile (iOS/Android), Web/Angular or backend services (Kotlin) , guiding system design, reliability, security, and cost efficiency on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) .

• Platform & delivery excellence: own CI/CD with GitHub & GitHub Actions , testing strategy, observability (SLIs/SLOs), and incident/operational readiness across mobile and backend components.

• Stakeholder & cross‑tribe coordination: partner with Product, Design, Risk/Security, and senior management to align roadmaps, manage dependencies, and ensure compliant, timely delivery.

• Architecture & quality governance: review and approve designs, challenge proposals, and standardise patterns (APIs, eventing, data privacy) to keep the estate simple, secure, and evolvable.

Your skills and experiences

• Engineering depth: several years in software engineering (incl. some years with line management) with a strong track record in either native mobile (iOS/Swift, Android/Kotlin), Angular Web / Typescript or backend (Java/Kotlin) ; proven ability to work across platform boundaries.

• Cloud & DevOps: practical experience operating workloads on GCP (e.g., GKE/Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, Cloud SQL) plus GitHub & GitHub Actions for CI/CD, testing, and release automation.

• Delivery in regulated environments: solid understanding of secure coding, data protection, compliance, and risk controls; you balance speed with safety and reliability.

• Communication & stakeholder management: excellent to native English is required; German (good working proficiency) is a strong plus; you articulate trade‑offs and influence at VP/C‑level.

• Hands‑on credibility: willing and able to pass a backend or frontend coding assessment ; you debug, prototype, and make pragmatic build‑vs‑buy decisions.
