The Department Atomic-Scale Dynamics in Light-Energy Conversion is looking for

Postdoc (f/m/d) Time-Resolved Photoelectron Spectroscopy on Solid?Liquid Interfaces

Your Tasks

• Performing your own time-resolved (resonant) PES experiments to investigate the electronic structure of solid-liquid interfaces in the LIDUX and ULLAS laser laboratories at the HZB Wannsee site
• Active participation in beamtimes at the BESSY II synchrotron radiation facility, especially performing (resonant) soft X-ray photoelectron spectroscopic experiments of metal-oxide nanoparticle suspensions using the liquid microjet technique
• Technical, administrative, and scientific support of group members, external users, collaborators, and HZB in-house researchers during their beamtimes at the SOL³ PES station and at the LIDUX lab
• Writing beamtime proposals, reports, and feedback
• Analyzing the measured photoelectron spectroscopic data (preferably with the IGOR Pro 9 software and self-written procedures therein), writing scientific publications, and presenting the results at international conferences and workshops
• Co-supervision of doctoral students and training of scientific staff, including doctoral students, in the measurement methodology

Your Profile

• PhD in physics, chemistry, or materials science
• Practical experience with laser pump-probe techniques and/or time-resolved spectroscopy methods
• Experience in the safe handling of Type 4 laser sources
• Enthusiasm, experimental skills, the ability to work in an interdisciplinary and international team, and a high degree of independence are a must
• Excellent written and spoken English skills; additional German skills are an advantage
• Programming experience desirable

Promoting young researchers is a major priority for the Helmholtz Association. Its qualification schemes for young researchers are geared mainly towards PhD students, postdocs and young managers.
