Mandatory internship in the field of Industry 4.0 software development

For over 35 years, the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Systems and Design Technology in Berlin has stood for excellence in production science. We are dedicated to combining science and practice in the field of industrial production and offer application-oriented system solutions for the entire range of industrial tasks - from product development to the production process, the maintenance of capital goods and the recycling of products through to the design and management of factory operations.

The field of expertise in production machinery and plant management involves developing solutions for plant and process automation as well as new software. Another focus is on data acquisition and evaluation in the context of machine tools and production.

What you will do

• Support in the design and implementation of Industry 4.0 networking solutions with a focus on the administration shell (AAS, Eclipse BaSyx)
• Collaboration in the development of digital assistance systems and their integration into cyber-physical systems
• Setup of test benches and demonstrators
• Development and implementation of backend and frontend components for Industry 4.0 communication

What you bring to the table

• Studies in mechanical engineering or a related field of study
• Motivation, ability to work in a team and commitment
• Independent, prudent and goal-oriented way of working
• Advanced knowledge of design engineering, CAD/CAM and manufacturing technology
• Training in a technical field advantageous
• Experience in scientific writing and good German language skills

The weekly working time is 39 hours (full-time).

Remuneration is based on the federal guidelines for internship remuneration.

The duration of the thesis depends on the requirements of your university.
