Lead Backend Engineer - Checkout (all genders)

Job Description

• Build complex, highly scalable technical solutions in close collaboration with the Tech Lead and Product Lead/Product Manager
• Define architectural decisions and ensure the delivery of reliable, state-of-the-art products
• Lead and mentor a world-class engineering team , collaborating with Product Managers, QAs, and Designers to ship new components and features
• Champion best practices in agentic engineering , efficiently leveraging modern AI tooling
• Work within a dynamic, international, and agile environment (SCRUM/Kanban) characterized by flat hierarchies and very short decision-making processes

Qualifications

• 10+ years of total experience, with at least 5–6 years as a Backend Developer
• Proven experience in leading or mentoring team members
• Extensive experience in modern backend web development, particularly with PHP 8+ in scalable, high-load environments
• Deep expertise in frameworks like Symfony and Laravel, adhering to best practices for building scalable applications
• Strong proficiency in MySQL and Redis
• Deep understanding of engineering principles and software architecture, including event-driven architecture
• Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure technologies such as Kubernetes, Helm, and AWS, as well as managing deployment pipelines (e.g., GitLab or similar tools)
• Fluent written and spoken English communication skills

 

Nice to Have

• Experience with Golang or exposure to Generative AI (GenAI) and related technologies is a plus
