Senior Manager, Software Engineering, Herogen (Tech Foundations)
We are on the lookout for a Senior Manager, Engineering (Herogen - Tech Foundation) to join the Herogen team on our journey to always deliver amazing experiences and build the Future of Software Delivery.
As a member of the Tech Foundation Team , you’ll support Delivery Hero’s rapid innovation and growth. You’ll work on foundational systems that enable faster feature development, security, and reliability across our global engineering community. Every enhancement you make will contribute to our teams' ability to build, scale, and deliver quality features—ultimately impacting millions of users worldwide.
The Herogen team is building and scaling Delivery Hero’s fully autonomous software delivery agent , designed to independently solve engineering tickets without human intervention. Launched in early 2026, the platform rapidly exceeded its initial targets and is now focused on expanding its impact across the organization. As part of the Agentic Engineering initiative, the team is driving one of the most disruptive advancements in software development by enabling AI-driven engineering at scale. This role will focus on increasing the complexity, quality, and volume of work Herogen can autonomously deliver, directly contributing to Delivery Hero’s innovation strategy and the goal of having 20% of merged pull requests generated autonomously by 2026.
What you will do
Scale User Base and Adoption: Implement native integration with brand environments, enforce conventions, and build features like co-authoring to allow Herogen to be invoked on human-generated pull requests.
Drive Workflow Integration: Integrate Herogen with Slack and other core engineering workflow tools to ease execution triggering and accelerate platform usage.
Increase Ticket Scope: Expand Herogen’s capabilities to handle a wider array of complex tasks, including operations spanning several repositories.
Expand Agent Skills: Advance specialized agent capabilities utilizing tools such as Open Application Model (OAM) and Open Telemetry.
Improve Code Quality: Enhance the Agent Council with specialized capabilities (e.g., reliability) and integrate multiple development sources to improve the quality of generated code, building adoption and system trust.
Optimize Environments: Provide a robust build environment and runtime support across backend, mobile, and web to allow testing code fully while building sophisticated Context Scrapers for sources like Slack and GitHub to provide deep architectural context.
High-Performance Engineering Leadership: A proven senior leadership track record with 5+ years of experience leading and nurturing engineering teams within a fast-paced, high-innovation environment.
Strategic Stakeholder Management & Product Integration: A robust product-oriented mindset to partner closely with product counterparts while championing technical excellence, paired with the ability to navigate and influence senior organizational stakeholders.
High-Bar Quality Engineering & Agentic Design: Deep commitment to software quality and reliability with hands-on experience implementing quality gates (e.g., Codacy), alongside deep expertise in building, scaling, and hardening autonomous or semi-autonomous software agents.
System Integration & Pipeline Design: Proven experience integrating complex development tools across decentralized environments and developing data ingestion/processing pipelines to provide agents with architectural context.
Scalability & Performance Mindset: A proactive engineering focus on optimizing performance, removing unexpected dependencies or obstacles, and scaling overall system capacity to dramatically increase autonomous pull request volumes.
Ownership & Leadership: A self-driven approach to owning a complex, autonomous system—continually driving improvements in code intelligence while thriving on pushing the boundaries of what automated software delivery can achieve.
