We are seeking a hands-on and commercially minded Financial Controller to take full ownership of the company’s financial control environment. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong governance, robust cash management, and forward-looking financial planning.

The successful candidate will lead the month-end process, manage IFRS reporting and statutory requirements, oversee the external audit, and own the core finance systems.
This is a key leadership role within the finance function, partnering closely with senior stakeholders to support strategic decision-making and business growth.
The role is supported by a small finance team that provides day-to-day operational support.

Scope of work

Financial Control & Reporting

• Own and manage the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness

• Prepare and review monthly management accounts and financial reporting packs

• Ensure compliance with IFRS and internal accounting policies

• Oversee general ledger integrity, reconciliations, and key accounting judgments

Audit & Statutory Compliance

• Lead the external audit process, acting as the primary point of contact for auditors

• Prepare and review consolidated IFRS financial statements

• Ensure all statutory filing and regulatory reporting requirements are met accurately and on time

• Maintain a strong internal control framework
  

Financial Planning, Cash Flow & Forecasting

• Lead the annual budgeting process and rolling forecasts

• Own cash flow management, including detailed cash flow forecasting

• Monitor performance against budget and forecast, highlighting risks and opportunities

• Provide financial insights to support strategic and operational decisions

Finance Systems & Process Ownership

• Own and manage the company’s finance systems, including Microsoft Dynamics Business Central (BC) and Planful

• Experience with Continia is preferred; experience with Navan (travel expenses) and Nomentia (banking) is a plus but not required

• Ensure system integrity, data accuracy, and effective integrations

• Drive automation, efficiency improvements, and process optimisation across the finance function

Leadership & Business Partnering

• Partner with senior stakeholders across the business

• Provide financial guidance to non-finance teams

• Lead and mentor the small finance team that provides operational support

• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within finance

• Foster a strong control mindset while supporting commercial objectives

Who we are looking for

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent)

• Strong technical accounting background with proven experience in financial control

• Solid IFRS knowledge, including consolidated financial statements

• Hands-on experience managing external audits

• Experience overseeing statutory reporting requirements

• Strong track record in budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management

• Experience owning and managing finance systems (experience with BC, Planful or similar systems preferred)

• High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
