Chief Technical Officer (Construction)

Our client is a leading C onstruction and Infrastructure Development Organization delivering large-scale civil, structural, and engineering projects across Nigeria through its subsidiaries (TSL and TBSL). As the organization continues to scale complex construction projects, it is seeking an experienced and highly strategic Chief Technical Officer (CTO) to lead all technical and engineering operations at the highest level. Your Responsibilities…

• You will provide overall technical leadership and oversight for all TSL and TBSL construction projects.
• You will supervise and ensure compliance of all engineering activities with approved designs, specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
• You will coordinate, guide, and monitor engineering teams, subcontractors, and technicians in resolving complex technical issues.
• You will ensure all civil and structural engineering works are delivered to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
• You will collaborate with Directors of Operations and Programme Managers to plan engineering schedules, manpower, materials, and site resources.
• You will review and validate construction drawings, plans, specifications, and design documents for accuracy and feasibility.
• You will conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, workmanship quality, and adherence to approved plans.
• You will provide technical input into project design decisions, ensuring practicality and constructability.
• You will review and manage design changes, ensuring clear communication to all relevant stakeholders.
• You will recommend appropriate construction methods, materials, and technologies based on project and site conditions.
• You will monitor and control engineering budgets, ensuring projects remain within approved financial limits.
• You will identify opportunities for cost optimization without compromising safety or quality.
• You will review and approve engineering-related invoices in line with approved budgets.
• You will supervise, mentor, and develop engineering teams, ensuring performance excellence.
• You will provide technical training and professional development for junior engineers and project staff.
• You will promote a culture of safety, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• You will prepare and present regular technical and progress reports to Top Management.
• You will serve as the primary technical authority and point of contact for all engineering matters across TSL and TBSL projects.

To Be Considered for This Role, You Should Have…

• Minimum of 20 years’ relevant experience in the construction industry.
• At least 10 years in a senior engineering or leadership role.
• Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Valid COREN license.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of civil and structural construction processes, materials, equipment, and techniques.
• Proven ability to manage multiple large-scale construction projects simultaneously.
• Deep understanding of Nigerian construction regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
• Proficiency in project management tools and construction software.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Strong financial and budget management capability within construction environments.
